Why this phone prices differently from the smaller Pro

If someone with a 14 Pro quoted you a number and ours is higher, it is the part, not us. The display on a Max is the largest and most expensive in that model year. The labor is similar. The panel costs what it costs.

Size also explains how yours broke. People hold a Max near the bottom because it is the only comfortable way, so when it slips it rotates and lands on an edge or a corner instead of flat. Corner impacts funnel all that energy into one spot, which shows up as a hairline that grows over a week, or as rear glass in pieces while the display sits there untouched.

And that is the second thing worth hearing before you get a price: on this phone, the back costs more to fix than the screen. The rear glass is fixed into the body rather than clipping off, so it is hours of work rather than a swap. It sounds backwards and it is real.

A free basic diagnostic settles all of it in about 10 minutes, including whether a corner hit also cracked the camera glass or damaged a side button.

Face ID will still work when you get it back

The hardware that unlocks your phone with your face lives in the screen that broke, so part of every screen job here is moving it onto the new panel intact. Done carefully, Face ID behaves exactly as it did before.

The exception is honest and unavoidable. If the fall physically destroyed that hardware, Face ID is gone permanently, here and at every other shop, because Apple ties it to your individual phone. We check it during the free diagnostic, before anybody has agreed to anything. It takes two minutes and it occasionally changes the entire decision, which is why it happens at the start rather than the end.

Two other realities on any modern iPhone. Your phone flags a screen or battery that did not come from Apple with a note in Settings, and behavior tied to the display, including the always-on screen, can differ between panel grades. Nothing stops working, and you hear all of it standing at the counter rather than reading about it at home.

About that battery

Battery life is why most people buy a Max, so they feel the decline more than anyone. It starts with the phone no longer coasting through a full day, then it is at 20 percent before dinner, and eventually it shuts off in a cold car in February and comes back to life once it warms up.

That last symptom is the giveaway. A worn cell cannot deliver enough current when it is cold, so the phone switches itself off. It is hardware, and nothing in Settings will fix it.

We pull the actual health figure before recommending anything, because occasionally the battery is fine and something running in the background is the real culprit. Selling you a battery you do not need is a bad trade for both of us. When it is genuinely worn, replacement takes under an hour.

Nothing on your phone gets erased

Photos, messages, apps, and logins all stay put. Screens, batteries, cameras, and charge ports never require touching your data, and we do not wipe devices.

Your device passcode is the one thing we ask for, and only so we can test the repair before you leave: touch across the whole display, Face ID, every camera, charging, and audio. Your Apple account password is not needed and we will not ask for it.

Which screen you get, and what it costs you

What actually differs: brightness in direct sun, color accuracy, and how the always-on display looks. Outdoor users should buy up. If the phone mostly lives indoors and in a pocket, the savings on a Max panel are larger simply because it is big.

• It stopped charging. New cable first, then lint compacted into the port, which we usually clear during the free diagnostic at no charge.
• Foggy or streaky photos. The camera array on a Max is big, heavy, and sticks out, which makes the glass over it the most frequently cracked glass on the phone after the back. That is almost always the whole story.
• A camera that genuinely failed. The zoom camera is the priciest Apple shipped that year, so eliminating the cheap explanation first is the job, not a favor.
• Audio trouble. Earpiece, speaker, and microphones are individually replaceable and usually same-visit.
• Liquid. Power off, stay off, no charging, no rice. Getting it to a bench quickly is the only lever that actually moves the odds.

Repair, claim, or trade?

Keep it. This phone runs current software easily, the camera system still outperforms plenty of what is sold new, and every repair listed here costs a fraction of a replacement.

Two things are worth checking before you hand us any money. First, coverage: a lot of these are still on a plan, and we handle insurance claim repairs, so ask at the counter and you will get an honest read rather than a quiet bill.

Second, how much is broken. Cracked front, shattered back, a tired battery, and a port that no longer holds a cable can total past the point of sense.
