What we buy

Phones first, because that is most of it: iPhones going back several generations, Samsung Galaxy, Pixel, Motorola, and most unlocked Android. Then iPads and Android tablets, MacBooks and Windows laptops, Apple Watches, and game consoles and controllers. If it has a screen and a battery, bring it in and ask.

We buy devices that do not work, too, and this is the part people do not expect. A phone with a shattered screen, a laptop that will not boot, a console with a broken port: all of those have value, because we have a bench. A shop without technicians can only buy devices it can resell as-is. We can repair, so a broken device is worth real money to us rather than being a trash item.

We also buy in volume. If a business is cycling out a fleet of phones, tablets, or laptops, that is a conversation worth having in person rather than device by device.

What actually determines the offer

  • Model and age. The biggest single factor. Devices depreciate fastest in the first year or two after release, which is exactly why waiting is expensive.
  • Condition, meaning the screen, the frame, and the back. Corner dents and bends matter more than scratches, because they affect whether parts seat properly.
  • Whether it powers on and passes testing. Working devices are worth more, but broken ones still have value.
  • Battery health, which we can read on most modern devices in seconds.
  • Storage capacity, which is easy to forget and can move the number meaningfully on higher tiers.
  • Whether it is unlocked, which matters on phones more than anything else on this list except model.
  • Whether it is fully clear of accounts and payment obligations. This is not a price factor, it is a can-we-buy-it-at-all factor.

We assess in front of you and tell you what drove the number. If something is holding the value down and it is fixable, we will say so, because sometimes a battery replacement or a screen repair adds more value than it costs. That is a real conversation we have at the counter, and it is why selling to a shop with a bench beats selling to a shop without one.

The five-minute checklist before you come in

Doing these ahead of time is the difference between walking out paid and walking out asked to come back.

  • Turn off the activation lock. On Apple devices that is Find My, and on Samsung it is the account lock. A device still tied to your account cannot be resold by anyone, so nobody can buy it in that state.
  • Sign out of your accounts and remove the device from your account’s device list.
  • Back up anything you want to keep, then let us wipe it. Once it leaves, it is gone.
  • Remove the SIM card and any memory card. People forget these constantly and then want them back.
  • Bring photo identification. We are required to record who we buy from, which protects you as much as it protects us.
  • Bring the charger and any accessories if you still have them, since a complete package can be worth a little more.

If you cannot remember the password to the account the device is signed into, deal with that before you come. It is the single most common reason a sale does not happen, and it is nothing we can work around at the counter.

Why this beats a mail-in buyback site

The online buyback model works like this: you describe the device, a generous number appears, you ship it away, and then the number changes after somebody grades it in a warehouse you cannot see. Your options at that point are accepting less than you were quoted or asking for the device back and waiting again.

In a store, you and the device are in the same room. We look at it, you watch us look at it, and the number we say is the number you take. If you disagree with the assessment you keep your device and you have lost nothing but a few minutes on an errand you were probably running anyway.

You also get paid in the same visit rather than a week later, and you do not have to trust a shipping label with a device that still has your data on it. For anyone in Revere, Malden, Lynn, or anywhere else on this corridor, that is a shorter trip than the post office.

Selling, trading, and upgrading in one visit

Selling outright is straightforward. You can also trade toward something on our shelf, and trade value typically goes further than a straight sale because it stays in the building. If you are replacing a phone anyway, doing both sides of that in one stop is simpler than selling in one place and buying in another.

The other version is trading up from something broken. If your phone needs a repair that costs more than it is worth, the value of the device as-is can go toward a tested pre-owned device instead, and you walk out with something working rather than a repair bill on a phone you did not love anyway.

What we cannot buy

Being upfront about this saves you a trip. We cannot buy a device that is still locked to somebody’s account, because it cannot legally or practically be resold. We cannot buy a device that is reported lost or stolen, and those are checkable. We cannot buy a device that is still being paid off on a financing agreement, because it is not fully yours to sell until it is paid.

We also will not buy a device we cannot identify or test, and on rare occasions we pass on something because there is no market for it. In that case we will tell you honestly that it is not worth anything to us rather than making an insulting offer and hoping you take it.

Walk in whenever we are open, no appointment. We are on Route 1 southbound in Saugus, and there are Spanish-speaking staff at the counter if that is easier for you.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you buy broken devices?

Yes. A cracked screen, a dead battery, or a laptop that will not boot still has value to a shop with a bench, because we can repair it. Do not throw a broken device away without asking.

When does the money actually change hands?

The same visit. We assess the device while you wait and you leave with payment rather than waiting on a check or a transfer later in the week.

What should I have with me when I sell?

The device, photo identification, and the charger if you still have it. Most importantly, have the activation lock turned off and the device signed out of your accounts before you arrive.

Why does activation lock matter so much?

Because a device still tied to your account cannot be used by anyone else, which makes it unsellable. It is the single most common reason a sale falls apart at the counter, and the fix takes two minutes if you do it in advance.

Will you wipe my data?

Yes, every device is wiped before it goes anywhere. Back up anything you want first, because once it is wiped it is gone for good.

Should I sell my phone or repair it?

Depends on the math, and we will do it with you. Sometimes a repair adds more value than it costs, which makes repairing then selling the better move. Sometimes the device is at the end of its run and selling as-is is smarter.

Can I sell a device I am still financing?

No. Until the financing is paid off the device is not fully yours to sell, so we cannot buy it. Once it is cleared, bring it in.

Do you buy laptops, tablets, and consoles too?

Yes. MacBooks, Windows laptops, iPads, Android tablets, Apple Watches, game consoles, and controllers. If you are not sure, bring it and ask.
