PS5 repair in Saugus, done in store. A loud PS5 is a dirty PS5.
A PS5 that shows no picture is not automatically a dead PS5, and a loud one is full of dust far more than it is broken. A clean and repaste runs same day to next day, port work three to seven days, and the look before any of it is free. We do this at our own bench, where you can watch.

The short list of what actually fails
After enough of these consoles cross a bench, the pattern gets predictable. Four failures account for nearly everything: the HDMI port, heat and noise, the disc drive, and a console that will not power on at all. Everything else is a long tail.
That is genuinely good news for you, because all four are known quantities with known repairs and known turnarounds. There is no mystery diagnosis fee, no exploratory surgery, and no reason to guess. You describe the symptom, we confirm it, and you get a range before anything happens.
What you should not do is assume the console is finished because the television says there is no signal. That specific symptom, on this specific console, is usually the cheapest of the four to fix.
The HDMI port: the single most common PS5 repair
The symptom is straightforward. The console powers up, the light comes on, the fan spins, you can hear the interface sounds if the volume is up, and the television reports no signal. Or the picture flickers in and out, or it appears only when the cable is pushed a certain direction.
The cause is mechanical. The PS5 is a big console that most people stand vertically, and the HDMI cable hangs off the back of it under its own weight. Any sideways force on that cable is transmitted into a small plastic-bodied connector soldered onto the motherboard. Somebody catches the cable with a foot. A kid pulls the cable to move the console. Somebody trips on it. The console gets shoved back against a cabinet wall while the cable is still plugged in and the connector takes the load. None of those are careless, and none of them are your fault in any meaningful sense. The connector is simply the weak point.
Read this part twice: stop wiggling the cable. When the port is damaged and you jiggle the cable to make a picture appear, you are working the connector back and forth against the board. That is how the copper pads under the port get torn off. Replacing a port on intact pads is a routine job with a predictable price. Replacing one where the pads have lifted means rebuilding connections by hand, and that is slower, riskier, and more expensive. Unplug the cable, leave it unplugged, and bring the console in.
It is worth ruling out the free possibilities first, and they take a minute: try a different HDMI cable, try a different input on the television, and try a different television entirely if one is available. If you have done all three and still have nothing, read the PS5 HDMI port repair page for what the repair involves.
Heat, fan noise, and the liquid metal question
PS5 consoles pull a lot of air. Air carries dust, pet hair, and whatever else lives in the room, and over a few years that builds into a mat inside the heatsink fins. Once the heatsink is blocked, the console cannot shed heat, and the fan compensates by running faster and louder. People describe it as the console suddenly getting loud, but it was gradual and they only noticed when it crossed a threshold.
The second half of the problem is the thermal interface between the processor and the heatsink. Sony used liquid metal on the PS5 rather than conventional paste, which is excellent when it is fresh and needs care when it is serviced. It can migrate or dry at the edges over time, and when it does, heat transfer drops.
This is where we will be direct with you: liquid metal is not a do-it-yourself job. It is electrically conductive, which means a stray drop on the wrong part of a board is not a mess, it is a dead console. There are a lot of videos suggesting otherwise. We repaste these using the right material and the right containment, and we would rather do it correctly than fix the aftermath of a kitchen table attempt.
The symptoms worth acting on: the console got noticeably louder, it shuts itself down during long sessions, or the area around it is noticeably hot. A clean and repaste addresses all three, and it usually runs same day to next day.
Disc drives and consoles that will not power on
Disc problems come in three flavors, and the flavor tells us a lot. A drive that will not pull the disc in at all is usually an obstruction or a failed loading mechanism. A drive that takes a disc and immediately ejects it is often a worn gear or belt, or a sensor that is not confirming the disc seated. A drive that accepts a disc and then reports nothing is there is more often a read or electronics problem.
One thing to check before you drive anywhere: a PS5 standing vertically that struggles with discs sometimes behaves better lying flat, because the loading mechanism is not fighting gravity in the same orientation. That is a clue, not a cure, but it is free to try and it tells us something useful.
Consoles that show nothing at all are the widest-range problem. It might be the power supply, which is a replaceable module and a good outcome. It might be a fuse that gave up during a surge, which is a genuinely inexpensive repair on a console that appears completely dead. Or it might be a board-level fault, which is where the conversation turns to whether the repair is worth doing. We check, we tell you which one it is, and the check itself is free.
Your library, your saves, and your data
Nobody asks this question first, but everybody is thinking it. Hardware repair does not touch your storage. Your installed games, your saves, your captures, and your account remain exactly as they were, because we are working on ports, fans, drives, and boards, not on the drive your library lives on.
The one exception is a console where the storage itself is the failure, and in that case we tell you up front, before any work begins, what the options are and what you stand to lose. If your saves matter to you and the console still boots, syncing them to cloud storage before you bring it in costs nothing and removes the worry entirely.
Why not just send it away
The manufacturer path means boxing the console, shipping it, and waiting, typically for weeks. That is a long time in a house where the console is the television, the group chat, and the evening plan. It also frequently means getting back a different unit than the one you sent, which matters if you care about your own hardware or if the internal storage came back to you empty.
We are on Route 1 southbound in Saugus, which puts us minutes from Revere, Malden, Lynn, Melrose, and Wakefield. Drop it off, get told what is wrong for free, and get your own console back working. Every repair we do carries the Limited Lifetime Warranty on the part and the workmanship.
And when the answer is that it is not worth repairing, we say that too, with a real comparison against what the console is worth. See the other console pages for Xbox, Switch, and controllers.

Common questions
The PS5 powers up but my television reports no signal. Is it dead?
Almost certainly not. That symptom on a PS5 usually points at the HDMI port on the console. Rule out the cable and the television input, then bring it in. It is one of the most repairable failures this console has.
Is the HDMI port replaced here, or sent away?
Yes. It is a board-level port replacement done at our bench. We do not ship your console out to somebody else, and the unit you drop off is the unit you take home.
The picture comes back if I hold the cable. Can I just live with that?
Please do not. Every time you move the cable to get a picture you are working the damaged port against the board, and the pads underneath can tear loose. That turns a routine repair into a much harder and more expensive one.
Why did my PS5 get so loud?
Dust packed into the heatsink and a thermal interface that has degraded. The fan speeds up because the console cannot get rid of heat any other way. A proper clean and repaste usually brings the noise right back down.
Should I try repasting a PS5 at home?
We would talk you out of it. The PS5 uses liquid metal, which conducts electricity, so a small spill in the wrong place can kill the board outright. This is one of the few jobs where the downside of a mistake is the whole console.
My PS5 refuses discs or spits them straight back out. Fixable?
Usually. It is a mechanical assembly with gears, a belt, and sensors, and those wear. Try the console lying flat instead of standing, which occasionally helps and always tells us something, then bring it in.
Do my saves survive a PS5 repair?
No. We work on hardware, not storage. Your library, saves, and account are untouched. If a console ever needs storage work we tell you before we begin, not after.
How many days are you going to keep it?
Cleaning and thermal work is often same day to next day. Port and drive repairs generally run three to seven days depending on parts. You get a timeframe when you drop it off.
