Start here: it is probably the port, and the port is replaceable

Before you price out a new console, know what you are most likely dealing with. A PlayStation 5 that lights up and sends nothing to the screen has a damaged HDMI connector the large majority of the time. Your machine is not finished. One part on the board is.

Think about where your console sits. Upright, tucked into a cabinet, cable pressed against the back wall or stretched toward a soundbar. Every time somebody nudges it, vacuums near it, or catches the cord with a foot, that connector takes a shove it cannot absorb. The plastic outside can look untouched while the connection underneath has given up.

Flickering, a picture that drops out mid-session, or video that only appears when the cable is held just so is the same failure earlier on. Come in at that stage and you are ahead of it. Two free checks are worth doing at home first: another HDMI cable, and another input on the TV.

The price, the timeline, and what is covered

You get a free basic diagnostic. We open the console, find the actual fault, and give you a real number for your machine. The instant quote at the top of this page tells you what to expect, and nothing gets done until you say yes. If you say no, you take it home and you owe nothing.

This is bench work, not counter work. Board-level repairs happen under magnification, so plan to leave the console rather than wait with it. We will give you a realistic window when you drop it off, and we would rather overestimate and call you early than the reverse.

We will also tell you the awkward part before we take your money: a hard enough impact sometimes damages the chip that drives video as well as the connector. We test for that up front, so if a port alone will not solve it, you hear that at the counter rather than on a phone call afterward.

Whatever we install carries our Limited Lifetime Warranty on the part and our workmanship. That is our repair, standing behind itself. It is not cover for the next accident.

Nothing on your console gets erased

Your saves, your installed games, your screenshots, and your settings all live on storage that is physically part of the mainboard. Any repair that keeps the board keeps every bit of that. We do not wipe consoles and we never have.

The exception is a board that genuinely cannot be saved, which takes the storage with it. If your saves are not going to the cloud, switch that on now rather than later. It costs nothing and it is the only real protection there is.

And you can watch us work. There are no curtains around our repair tables, so the bench is out in the open in the same room as the counter.

• It will not turn on at all. Usually a failed power supply, which is a self-contained unit rather than a board fault. This is the repair where people expect terrible news and get the opposite.
• Discs grind, stick, or get spat out. Mechanism, laser, or an obstruction, and the diagnostic tells us which. Skip the used drive you found online: current consoles tie the drive to the machine it shipped in.
• Loud fan, hot case, sudden shutdowns. Dust in the heatsink is the usual culprit, and a clean quiets most consoles right down. If yours also shuts off under load, it needs the deeper service that renews the material between the chip and the heatsink.
• A drink went in. A vertical PS5 has vents on top, which is unlucky when a cup goes over on the shelf above it. Unplug it, leave it off, and bring it straight here.
• Controllers. Stick drift is a routine, small repair rather than a reason to buy new ones.

Repair it or trade it?

PlayStation 5 consoles hold their value better than almost anything else we touch, and the common repairs cost well under what a replacement does. Add in that you keep your library, your saves, and your controllers, and repairing is the right call for most people who walk in here.

Where it stops being the right call is a console with several serious faults at once, or one that took enough liquid to corrode the board in multiple places. We will tell you that plainly, make you an offer on it as it sits, and show you what is on the shelf in our pre-owned inventory. Buying, selling, and trading is part of what we do, so a console we cannot fix economically is still worth money to you.

If your console is recent enough to still be covered by the manufacturer, say so, because opening it past the side panels affects that. We will point you to the better option even when it means we do not get the job.

Walk in whenever it suits you

No appointment is needed, ever. Just the console is fine, and the controllers and the stand can stay home. Bring the HDMI cable if it is convenient, because occasionally the cable is the entire problem and that is a nice, cheap ending for everybody.
