Two good ways down from Wakefield
The highway way is the simplest. Get on Route 128, which is I-95 through here, follow it north toward Peabody, and come off at Route 1 southbound. Route 1 then carries you down through Lynnfield and into Saugus with nothing to think about, and because you are already southbound you land on our side of the road automatically. Figure about 15 minutes from the Main Street side of Wakefield.
The surface way is often just as fast and more pleasant. Head south out of Wakefield through Greenwood toward Melrose, pick up the Lynn Fells Parkway, and run east toward Saugus and Route 1. If you live on the lake side of town near Quannapowitt or over toward the Common, one of those two will be obviously better depending on the hour, and locals already know which.
Either way, the only rule is to end up on Route 1 southbound. If you come in northbound, continue to the jughandle at Essex Street and loop back.
